Interface references are dated by section. Earlier interviews and historical sections keep their original evidence dates. This is not a tested compatibility list for add-ons, controllers, or handhelds.

November 2 notes

Gamepad support is described as functional beta, configurable in Edit Mode and Options.[1]

See Pre-launch update.

Interface and display

Josh Greenfield described a built-in damage meter and flexible UI customization. At that interview, a cooldown manager was planned, with beta availability still uncertain. Jeff Parrott said SD/HD character settings also affect other characters and NPCs.[2]

Transmogrification addresses appearance choices separately. When recording a display problem, include both appearance settings and character-model settings so contributors can reproduce what was visible.

For the later beta issue status, read Beta known issues; the earlier interview is retained as dated development context.

The September 22 client reference records later official input-device changes. Its evidence should be read separately from the earlier interviews and any individual compatibility report.

October 8 beta interface update

Class, racial and trinket cooldowns are supported; consumables await another patch. Gamepad action bar options moved into Edit Mode; layouts are saved per UI type.[3]

These developer-reported changes update the earlier interview context. A reported support addition does not establish that every tracking bug is resolved. Read Beta known issues before interpreting a test.

For the separate Skyborne visual roadmap, see Character models.

Character statistics

Statistics explains how to open the reported beta pane, what kinds of counters it contains, and why a listed statistic does not establish feature availability.

Lighting

Ion Hazzikostas explained that Forever's lighting changes include artists' work across the zones, alongside engine improvements; he highlighted torch- and lantern-lit patrols in Duskwood.[4]

For a helpful comparison, capture the same position, view direction, time of day, and display settings. Describe readability problems in concrete terms, such as a nameplate that becomes difficult to distinguish against the background. Do not infer frame rate or hardware requirements from promotional images.

A useful compatibility report

Record the Forever build, operating system, input device, and add-on version where relevant. Explain one task you attempted, the exact control or setting used, and the result. A screenshot of the menu plus a short sequence of steps is more useful than a broad “works” or “broken” label.

HELP IMPROVE THIS FOREVER REFERENCE

Evidence still needed

Actual menu paths for display and UI settings; Cooldown manager availability by Forever build; Controller targeting and menu navigation; Text scaling and readability examples; Add-on compatibility with exact versions

Record the Forever build, observation date, and a source or screenshot. Update the article and remove only the tasks your evidence resolves.

Beta-era addon guidance

Forever uses the modern addon API. Developers described built-in damage and cooldown tools; a swing timer was still prospective.[5]
