Beginner guide
New to World of Warcraft: Forever? Read the overview first, then use this guide to plan access and gather questions for beta.
Access and dates
| Goal | Announced requirement or date |
|---|---|
| Play at launch | WoW Subscription or Game Time; launch is planned for 4 November 2026. |
| Join beta through an upgrade | Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection; the published beta window is 17 September–21 October 2026. |
| Reserve names early | Any upgrade purchase; 27 October–3 November 2026, for up to three characters. Names are first come, first served. |
These are the dates and arrangements printed in Blizzard's upgrade announcement.[1] Check the current terms through that source before purchasing; the table is a dated reference.
Prepare with your group
- Agree on when you want to play and who will join you. Keep a shared list of questions to check when beta opens.
- Preview documented destinations in the zone index. Zephras Isle and Riverglades each explain their announced leveling context.
- Treat unrecorded stats as unknown. An empty field is not a zero, and an announcement is not an in-game test.
- Keep a note of the build and date when you test a route, item, or quest. Capture your own screenshots of tooltips and objectives to support later corrections.
A useful first beta session
Choose one small question to investigate: where a dungeon entrance is, which quest awards an item, or how a travel connection works. Record the starting point, steps taken, and result. If the observation differs from an announcement, retain both dates and explain the difference instead of silently replacing the earlier evidence.
A compact note to keep beside your screenshots:
Subject: Build and date: What I observed: Where I observed it: Supporting screenshot or official URL: Still uncertain:
