City of Dalaran — announced levels 28–33.[1] The announced adventure concerns magical disturbances in Dalaran.[2]
Before you go
Start with access notes, then match your Heart of Disruption variant and review other objectives. Dungeon checklists offers a preparation list. Historical client names below are kept separate from current written-guide advice.
Availability
Blizzard opened City of Dalaran for testing on October 8.[3] See Beta update (October 8, 2026) and Beta guide. The announced level band remains separate from a verified minimum entry requirement.
Setting and access
The October 8 written Forever guide describes sewer access. It reports a Horde gate requiring a key held by at least one player, rather than a completed chain on every party member.[4] Blood in the Streets and Heart of Disruption independently document the approach and provided key; their pages do not establish every prerequisite. No coordinates are supplied here.
Wowhead’s written preview says the city’s barrier has fallen and the Kirin Tor need help restoring control.[5] Its older 20–35 prose conflicts with Blizzard’s corrected 28–33 level table; this page follows Blizzard.[1]
Beta client evidence
The dungeon is map 2959, with a five-player difficulty record (5923). A separate map named Dalaran City (2980) must not be treated as this instance.[6][7] The instance’s area records include Fel Grove (16559).[8] These records do not locate the entrance or prove that the dungeon is open on a beta realm.
Encounter preparation
These are concise written-guide reports, not wiki-tested mechanics. Exact gameplay build is unreported.[4]
| Guide encounter | Preparation |
|---|---|
| Atrexis the Grave Knight | Let the tank establish threat before attacking summoned skeletons. |
| Arcane Anomaly | Avoid the rotating Focal Blast; stay clear of perimeter adds. |
| Arcanic Enigma | Prioritize Mana Phantoms, dispel Manamorph, and keep the healer outside close-range Silence. |
| Unstable Sentinel | Move away during Malfunction’s wind-up; clear nearby Angry Tomes first. |
| Shade of the Archmage | Spread for Bounding Mana and keep ranged players clear of Arcane Explosion. |
The guide leaves Fel Ancient and Lyn the Ignored mechanics unresolved. It does not supply a verified loot table.[4]
Name discrepancy: Power Overwhelming says Mana Elemental in its prose but Arcanic Enigma in its linked objective. This does not prove that every similarly named historical encounter row is an alias.
Quest preparation
The linked articles inspect each original Forever quest record; use them to check your actual log and reward variant.
- Blood in the Streets → Heart of Disruption → Shrewd Negotiations: the Magus Wordeen sequence.
- Heart of Disruption also documents the separate Image of Archmage Modera record and reward choices.
- The Grave Knight
- Opportunistic Education
- Starving Arcane
- Power Overwhelming
- A Green Sample
Minimum acceptance levels, faction eligibility and mandatory breadcrumbs are not inferred from the dungeon level band. These quests are not presented as one combined chain.
Historical client encounter names
The client associates these names with map 2959.[9] They are research leads, not a tested route or a statement that every encounter is mandatory. Mechanics, optional-event conditions and drops need separate evidence.

| Fel Ancient | 3299 |
| Mana Devourer | 3300 |
| Mana Elemental | 3301 |

Legacy connection
The client places this dungeon under Experienced Spelunker in the Legacy completion criteria (row 230769).[10] Completion rewards and availability should be checked in the active build.

Client check: 9 October 2026
The archived 1.60.1.70245 export still pairs map 2959 with a five-player difficulty row 5923.[11] The historical encounter names below remain present in the newer DungeonEncounter table.[12] These checks cover client identity and capacity only; gameplay tactics retain their separately stated source dates.

Entrance route and access; Required versus optional encounters; Encounter abilities and loot; Dungeon quests
Unresolved source conflict: Power Overwhelming prose says Mana Elemental; its linked objective and the written guide name Arcanic Enigma.

Sources and scope
The level band comes from Blizzard’s announcement. Client records are from the Forever beta build stated above; a record’s presence does not demonstrate live availability. No entrance, strategy, drop rate or quest chain is inferred from another WoW edition.
