Mage
Mage — The Mage preview uses Mana and divides its talents into Arcane, Fire, and Frost. Several talents name spells associated with more than one school, so reading the precise affected-spell list is useful when comparing paths.[1]
Browse all 54 Mage talents with icons, ranks, prerequisites, and individual source notes.
Choose a reading path
The following is an editorial route through the preview, not a recommended point allocation.[1]
| Talent tree | What to compare | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Arcane | Arcane casts, resource management, and effects that change how a spell is delivered. Inspect the interaction between Arcane Blast and Missile Barrage. | Arcane Blast, Missile Barrage, Presence of Mind, Arcane Power |
| Fire | Critical strikes, follow-up casts, and Mana recovery. Some talents also name Frostfire Bolt or non-Fire abilities. | Wake of Fire, Hot Streak, Master of Elements, Combustion |
| Frost | Chills, frozen-target interactions, and protective cooldowns. A target being treated as Frozen is a separate condition from being physically rooted. | Shatter, Fingers of Frost, Cold Snap, Ice Barrier |
Abilities and changes worth checking
These are summarized from the pinned community demo transcription. Baseline spells and talents are identified separately where the source supports that distinction.[1]
- Comprehend Scroll. The preview export records an ability for deciphering an untranslated scroll, seen on a Skyborne Mage. Its full acquisition rules and usable scroll list are not established here.
- Frostfire Bolt. Named in the preview ability notes and multiple talents. Check the exact talent text instead of assuming every Fire and Frost bonus applies.
- Ice Lance and Arcane Blast. These have talent pages in the snapshot. A familiar name from another WoW edition does not establish baseline access in Forever.
Plan a first beta session
These are suggested checks for learning the class and collecting useful evidence; they are not claims about the strongest build.
- For Frost, distinguish an actual crowd-control effect from the Fingers of Frost condition when recording an interaction.
- For Fire, track the triggering event and the next affected spell separately; a critical-strike interaction may be conditional.
- For Arcane, record the Mana cost as well as damage when comparing an empowered cast with the ordinary version.
Race choice
Use the Mage race list to separate officially announced additions from the broader preview roster. Follow the linked race guides for recorded racials; a racial tooltip does not establish a universal best choice.
What remains unresolved
Final spell coefficients, practical area-pull limits, resistance behavior, and level-60 specialization rankings are not established by the transcription. This guide does not recommend a mass-pulling route.
For corrections, record the game build, character level, spell or talent rank, and the observed interaction. Follow Project:Data policy and compare against Mage talents before replacing preview information.
