Skyborne are the new playable people of Zephras Isle. Faction is selected at character creation and changes one class option; both factions share Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid. Alliance offers Mage, while Horde offers Shaman.[1]
Faction and class choices
| Faction | Preview name | Classes |
|---|---|---|
| Alliance | High Order | Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid, Mage |
| Horde | Windshaper | Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid, Shaman |
The variant names and racial summaries below follow the community export.[2] Blizzard also announced distinct Skyborne Druid forms.[1]
Origin and starting experience
The shen’dorei fled Eldre’Thalas and found refuge in Skywall. Their island now faces failing supports after its elemental protectors vanished; Windshapers, the High Order, and Al’Aketh compete over its future.[3]
Zephras Isle is announced for levels 1–12.[1] Its article tracks the starting-zone evidence; exact quest routes and exit instructions still require verification.
Design background
In a Windows Central interview, Tim Jones described elves’ popularity as a reason for the choice. Kris Zierhut connected the Skyborne story to Shen'dralas and the opposition to Prince Tortheldrin in Eldre’Thalas.[4]
These are the developers’ stated design reasons. They do not establish a quest sequence or racial balance outcome.
Preview racial abilities
These qualitative summaries come from the pinned demo transcription, rather than a final numerical balance sheet.[2]
| Availability | Ability | Recorded behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Both factions | Walk on Air | A controlled downward glide. This does not establish unrestricted flight. |
| Both factions | Wind Blessed | Increases melee, ranged, and spellcasting haste. |
| Both factions | Elemental Insight | Increases damage against Elementals. |
| Alliance / High Order | Read Ley Line | Health and Mana regeneration; the effect lasts longer when used near a ley line. |
| Horde / Windshaper | Skysight | Movement and mounted speed; the effect lasts longer near a convergence of elements. |
Access
The Skyborne race and starting experience require the Skyborne Heroic Pack or an upgrade containing it. Beta access is a separate included benefit of the Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection.[5] See Beginner guide for the access overview.
Choosing a Skyborne character
First decide which faction your group will use, then check the available class. For racial comparisons, distinguish a short effect used anywhere from the extended version that needs a suitable location. The wiki does not yet have a verified map of ley lines or elemental convergences.
For a useful beta report, record faction, class, build, racial tooltip, location, and whether the extended effect actually triggered. A demonstration of one faction’s ability should not be reported as belonging to both.
Evidence still needed
Verify racial tooltips and environmental triggers in one Forever build; Identify quests connecting the starting story with Eldre’Thalas
Record the Forever build, observation date, and a source or screenshot. Update the article and remove only the tasks your evidence resolves.
