Shaman
Shaman — The Shaman preview uses Mana for spells and brings together elemental casts, melee interactions, healing, and totems. Elemental Combat, Enhancement, and Restoration supply three different ways to read those tools.[1]
Browse all 50 Shaman talents with icons, ranks, prerequisites, and individual source notes.
Choose a reading path
The following is an editorial route through the preview, not a recommended point allocation.[1]
| Talent tree | What to compare | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Combat | Elemental spell costs, cast times, and Fire or Lightning interactions. Compare the affected spell list instead of treating every modifier as universal. | Elemental Focus, Lightning Overload, Elemental Alacrity, Lava Burst |
| Enhancement | Melee attacks feeding spell use and movement tools. Maelstrom Weapon connects melee events to a later Lightning Bolt. | Improved Ghost Wolf, Mental Quickness, Maelstrom Weapon, Rage of the Farseer |
| Restoration | Healing efficiency, shields, and totem support. Read direct healing separately from periodic or follow-up effects. | Water Shield, Mana Tide Totem, Nature's Swiftness (Shaman), Riptide |
Abilities and changes worth checking
These are summarized from the pinned community demo transcription. Baseline spells and talents are identified separately where the source supports that distinction.[1]
- Totemic Projection and Totemic Recall. The preview records tools to relocate and recall totems. Projection is described as placement at a chosen location rather than simply bringing them to the Shaman.
- Call of the Elements. Recorded as a way to place a set of up to four totems from the Totem Bar. Test the setup process before treating each totem as a separate opening action.
- Fire Nova. The preview describes a spell centered on an active Fire totem, not a standalone Fire Nova totem. Its origin point matters when planning a pull.
Plan a first beta session
These are suggested checks for learning the class and collecting useful evidence; they are not claims about the strongest build.
- For Enhancement, distinguish the proc-generating melee attack from the Lightning Bolt that consumes the benefit.
- For totems, record where the Fire totem is located before measuring Fire Nova coverage or moving the set.
- For healing, test Riptide and Chain Heal on the specified target arrangement rather than assuming every heal gains the same benefit.
Race choice
Use the Shaman race list to separate officially announced additions from the broader preview roster. Follow the linked race guides for recorded racials; a racial tooltip does not establish a universal best choice.
What remains unresolved
The source’s Ghost Wolf ability notes and Improved Ghost Wolf talent values do not present a perfectly consistent cast-time account. Recheck the baseline cast and both ranks in the same beta build before publishing a numerical explanation. Final totem ranges and spell training levels also need direct verification.
For corrections, record the game build, character level, spell or talent rank, and the observed interaction. Follow Project:Data policy and compare against Shaman talents before replacing preview information.
