Shaman

From World of Warcraft Forever Wiki
Revision as of 14:50, 8 October 2026 by WikiAdmin (talk | contribs) (Refresh sourced Forever beta references and add PvP and Excavation Site research)

Latest source review: 8 October 2026. The new section summarizes the current licensed records. Earlier guide sections retain their stated snapshots and may describe superseded behavior. This is source research, not an independent playtest.

Shaman — The Shaman beta data uses Mana for spells and brings together elemental casts, melee interactions, healing, and totems. Elemental, Enhancement, and Restoration supply three different ways to read those tools.[1]

October 8 record review

The pinned export was generated 7 October. Differences below compare it with the previous wiki snapshot; the review date is not a game-patch date.[2]

Use Shaman talents for current ranks and prerequisites and Shaman spellbook for the bounded spell selection.

Earlier guide snapshot

The following sections were last reviewed on 2026-09-27. Their original citations and observations remain historical context; the update above and individual record pages identify later differences.

Changes from the demo

The beta tree is named Elemental, replacing Elemental Combat. Totemic Focus moves from Restoration row 4 to row 1, while Tidal Mastery moves from row 1 to row 4. This changes how early those talents can be reached; all 50 named talents remain present.[1]

The beta spell records list Call of the Elements and Totemic Recall at level 20, and Totemic Projection at level 22. Projection has a one-minute cooldown and a cost of 25% of base Mana in this build; it is not a free reposition on every pull. These are client-data training entries, not this wiki's trainer tests.[1]

For source-listed learning levels 1–20, see Shaman spellbook. Its tables exclude Classic fallback tooltips and explain the source’s level-60 tooltip context.

Choose a reading path

The following is an editorial route through the beta talent data, not a recommended point allocation.[1]

Talent tree What to compare Start with
Elemental Elemental spell costs, cast times, and Fire or Lightning interactions. Compare the affected spell list instead of treating every modifier as universal. Elemental Focus, Lightning Overload, Elemental Alacrity, Lava Burst
Enhancement Melee attacks feeding spell use and movement tools. Maelstrom Weapon connects melee events to a later Lightning Bolt. Improved Ghost Wolf, Mental Quickness, Maelstrom Weapon, Rage of the Farseer
Restoration Healing efficiency, shields, and totem support. Read direct healing separately from periodic or follow-up effects. Water Shield, Mana Tide Totem, Nature's Swiftness (Shaman), Riptide

Abilities and changes worth checking

These summaries use the cited beta records. Baseline spells and talents are identified separately; older demo observations are called out when used.[1]

  • Totemic Projection and Totemic Recall. The beta records tools to relocate and recall totems. Projection is described as placement at a chosen location rather than simply bringing them to the Shaman.
  • Call of the Elements. Recorded as a way to place a set of up to four totems from the Totem Bar. Test the setup process before treating each totem as a separate opening action.
  • Fire Nova. The beta describes a spell centered on an active Fire totem, not a standalone Fire Nova totem. Its origin point matters when planning a pull.

Plan a beta session

These are suggested checks for learning the class and collecting useful evidence; they are not claims about the strongest build.

  • For Enhancement, distinguish the proc-generating melee attack from the Lightning Bolt that consumes the benefit.
  • For totems, record where the Fire totem is located before measuring Fire Nova coverage or moving the set.
  • For healing, test Riptide and Chain Heal on the specified target arrangement rather than assuming every heal gains the same benefit.

Race choice

Use the Shaman race list to separate officially announced additions from the broader preview roster. Follow the linked race guides for recorded racials; a racial tooltip does not establish a universal best choice.

How the beta talent data fits together

Talent evidence: The cited beta export supplies source-confirmed text for every rank of this class's current talents. That verifies the source text, not live behavior or final balance. Earlier demo estimates do not override the beta records; any separately labeled unverified observation still needs a rank and build check.[1]

Icy Veins calls attention to the connections between Shaman spells, melee attacks, and totem placement. Its suggested builds are provisional; the examples below explain the separately recorded Forever mechanics without assigning an optimal build.[3][1]

Elemental: read the named spells

Lava Burst gains additional damage when your Flame Shock affects its target. Lightning Overload names Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning, rather than every Nature spell. Elemental Alacrity names Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst for its cast-time reduction. Check each list when comparing talents: a benefit to one spell school does not automatically cover every spell in it.[1]

In the build 70009 layout, Elemental Alacrity is in row 3, Call of Thunder in row 4 requires it, and Elemental Fury in row 6 requires Call of Thunder. Lava Burst displays 150–192 Fire damage, with 20% more against a target affected by your Flame Shock. That tooltip amount is a source display, not a measurement on a level-20 character.[4]

Enhancement: turn melee opportunities into spells

Maelstrom Weapon can build a temporary reduction to the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt through melee damage. Mental Dexterity turns Intellect into Attack Power, while Mental Quickness supplies spell damage and healing from Intellect. These interactions explain why melee and casting tools belong in the same beta kit; they do not supply final gear weights.[1]

Improved Stormstrike has two separately described opportunities: Stormstrike can enable Mana regeneration while casting, and a Dodge or Parry can reset its cooldown. Spirit Weapons grants parry and changes threat behavior depending on whether Rockbiter Weapon is active. Its threat bonus is a reason to check your weapon enhancement before joining a group, not sufficient proof that Shaman can tank every dungeon or raid.[1]

The current Rage of the Farseer tooltip grants 30% attack speed for 25 seconds. It no longer lists a spell-casting-speed bonus; attack speed alone does not imply faster casts.[4]

Restoration: consider the first healing target

The beta Riptide description combines direct and periodic healing with a bonus to Chain Heal casts made directly on that target. The initial target therefore matters. The beta Water Shield description uses limited charges that can activate after incoming hits or healing criticals, with a delay between activations. Its description also limits the Shaman to one Elemental Shield at a time.[1]

Totem placement and Fire Nova

For the recorded rank-3 Fire Nova, 30 yards is the spell's listed range; enemies within 10 yards of the active Fire totem take the damage. The totem is the center of the effect. Moving yourself and moving the totem are different actions.[1]

The Icy Veins wording describes a 30-yard explosion. This guide follows the transcribed Forever tooltip, which separates range and radius.[3][1] Totemic Projection lets you choose a new totem location; Call of the Elements places a configured group of up to four totems. Try setting the Totem Bar and moving the set in a safe area before using them in a crowded pull.[1]

New race options

Dwarf Shaman is an officially announced addition.[5] The race and class table distinguishes that confirmation from demo racial details. A racial effect and a successful tanking test answer different questions.

What remains unresolved

The beta spell record lists a three-second base Ghost Wolf cast, while Improved Ghost Wolf reduces it by one or three seconds at ranks 1 and 2 and permits indoor use. This replaces the older two-second demo summary. Verify actual cast behavior and indoor access in the client before treating the data as a tested movement guide.[1]

For corrections, record the game build, character level, spell or talent rank, and the observed interaction. Follow Project:Data policy and compare against Shaman talents before replacing build-specific information.
