Priest
Priest — The Priest preview contains Mana-based healing, shields, and Shadow spells. Discipline, Holy, and Shadow Magic are separate reading paths, while changes to formerly race-specific spells also affect character selection.[1]
Browse all 53 Priest talents with icons, ranks, prerequisites, and individual source notes.
Choose a reading path
The following is an editorial route through the preview, not a recommended point allocation.[1]
| Talent tree | What to compare | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Discipline | Shields, Mana, and healing interactions involving Weakened Soul. Read which spells are explicitly named by each modifier. | Soul Warding, Penance, Renewed Hope, Divine Aegis |
| Holy | Direct and periodic healing with several different target patterns. Compare who receives each heal and when it occurs. | Binding Heal, Litany of Light, Spiritual Healing, Prayer of Mending |
| Shadow Magic | Shadow damage, threat management, resource recovery, and target-death interactions. Devouring Contagion is worth reading alongside the spellbook change to Devouring Plague. | Spirit Tap, Shadow Affinity, Devouring Contagion, Early Demise, Shadowform |
Abilities and changes worth checking
These are summarized from the pinned community demo transcription. Baseline spells and talents are identified separately where the source supports that distinction.[1]
- Fear Ward. The preview export records access for every Priest. Choosing a race solely to obtain Classic’s version of Fear Ward would use the wrong premise.
- Devouring Plague. Recorded as an ordinary Shadow spell instead of an Undead-only Priest ability. Devouring Contagion adds a further interaction in the Shadow tree.
- Shadow Word: Death. Named by Early Demise and recorded in the new-ability notes. Its final rank values and use in a rotation still need verification.
Plan a first beta session
These are suggested checks for learning the class and collecting useful evidence; they are not claims about the strongest build.
- When comparing Discipline talents, record whether Weakened Soul is present; Renewed Hope has target conditions rather than a universal benefit.
- For Shadow, distinguish a target-death trigger from a direct damage increase when assessing Devouring Contagion.
- Read the race preview separately from class-wide spells. The export also records Priest racial spells; verify the selected race and spellbook instead of assuming Classic exclusivity.
Race choice
Use the Priest race list to separate officially announced additions from the broader preview roster. Follow the linked race guides for recorded racials; a racial tooltip does not establish a universal best choice.
What remains unresolved
Healing throughput rankings, Shadow’s final resource behavior, and the complete race-specific spell progression are not settled by this guide. The Races pages summarize general racials, not a complete Priest racial spellbook.
For corrections, record the game build, character level, spell or talent rank, and the observed interaction. Follow Project:Data policy and compare against Priest talents before replacing preview information.
