Guide updated 29 October 2026. New setup guidance appears first; older access and testing references keep their original dates. This is not a tested leveling route.

New to World of Warcraft: Forever? Read the overview first, then use Game access and the Release roadmap to plan your first journey.

The beta testing checklist below remains a dated reference.

New setup guidance: 28 October

Compare Experience presets before planning your interface. For early name creation, follow the latest dated reservation guidance rather than the older beta installation checklist.

Starter guidance lists L for quests, M for maps and P for learned abilities. Change bindings in Options.[1] Check your own bindings if a shortcut differs.

For companions or advice, Blizzard points Forever players to the official WoW Portal Room Discord. Community ambassadors help players find suitable communities.[2]

Before installing

Start with Game access for subscription versus beta requirements, eligible upgrades, and missing-client checks. System requirements summarizes Blizzard's Windows and Mac specifications. Release roadmap separates launch from later raid opening.

Earlier announced access table (historical)

Goal Announced requirement or date
Play at launch WoW Subscription or Game Time; launch is planned for 4 November 2026.
Join beta through an upgrade Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection; the published beta window is 17 September–21 October 2026.
Reserve names early Any upgrade purchase; 27 October–3 November 2026, for up to three characters. Names are first come, first served.

These are the dates and arrangements printed in Blizzard's upgrade announcement.[3] Check the current terms through that source before purchasing; the table is a dated reference.

Choose your next guide

  1. Compare the nine classes and race availability. Follow the class guides into individual talents before choosing a build.
  2. Read Changes from Classic to identify assumptions worth rechecking.
  3. Understand Legacy progression separately from class talents, then explore Camping and Professions.
  4. Find a destination through Zones or Dungeons. Equipment sources connects the rewards with recorded sources; Quest rewards explains the known quest examples.
  5. Check the dated research log and capture build-specific evidence with Project:Beta verification.

Prepare with your group

  1. Agree on when you want to play and who will join you. Keep a shared list of questions for your next session.
  2. Read Realmless rulesets together and compare Race and class combinations before planning a party. Use Character names for naming and reservation information.
  3. Preview documented destinations in the zone index. Zephras Isle and Riverglades each explain their announced leveling context.
  4. Treat unrecorded stats as unknown. An empty field is not a zero, and an announcement is not an in-game test.
  5. Keep a note of the build and date when you test a route, item, or quest. Capture your own screenshots of tooltips and objectives to support later corrections.

Historical testing checklist

Read Beta guide for its dated testing scope and Beta known issues before interpreting a surprising result.

Choose one small question to investigate: where a dungeon entrance is, which quest awards an item, or how a travel connection works. Record the starting point, steps taken, and result. If the observation differs from an announcement, retain both dates and explain the difference instead of silently replacing the earlier evidence.

A compact note to keep beside your screenshots:
